Why it's a range

RPM, revenue per 1,000 views, is what a creator earns after YouTube's share, averaged over all views including the ones that showed no ads. It depends on the topic, the viewers' countries, the time of year and how long videos are, so the same views can earn many times more on one channel than another.

The niche ranges are rough figures creators commonly report for mostly US, UK, Canadian and Australian audiences. They aren't official and won't match any one channel. If you're in the Partner Program, your own RPM in YouTube Studio's Analytics turns this into a much better estimate.

Frequently asked questions

How much does YouTube pay per 1,000 views?

It varies widely: often around $1 to $5 for entertainment and gaming, and $5 to $25 or more for finance, business and tech, for viewers in high-paying countries. Only YouTube Studio shows a channel's real RPM.

What's the difference between CPM and RPM?

CPM is what advertisers pay per 1,000 ad impressions. RPM is what the creator earns per 1,000 views, after YouTube's share and counting views with no ads. RPM is the number to use for earnings.

Does this include sponsorships and memberships?

No, only YouTube's share of ad revenue. Sponsorships, memberships, Super Chats and merchandise can add a lot on top.

Can I see how much a specific channel earns?

Not exactly; earnings are private. Enter the channel's daily views here for a rough range, using the niche closest to its videos.
