Why export a playlist to a spreadsheet

A spreadsheet is the easiest way to plan a course, share a reading list with a class, keep an archive of a channel's series, or sort a playlist by views or date. YouTube has no export button, so this tool reads the playlist through the YouTube Data API and builds the file for you.

The Excel file has a bold, frozen header row, filters on every column and clickable links. Durations come as 1:02:03 text, plain seconds and minutes, so you can add them up with a formula. Titles in any language open correctly, in Excel too.

Every file is built in your browser. JSON, XML, YAML and SQLite keep numbers as numbers and tags as lists, ready for scripts and databases. Bookmark HTML imports into Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge, and M3U and M3U8 open the videos as a queue in players like VLC.

Frequently asked questions

How do I export a YouTube playlist to Excel?

Paste the playlist link above and press Export, pick the columns you want, tick Excel and press Download. The .xlsx file opens in Excel, Google Sheets, Numbers and LibreOffice.

Which formats can I export to?

CSV, Excel (.xlsx), Text, Bookmark HTML, JSON, Markdown, XML, HTML, YAML, SQLite, Word (.docx), M3U and M3U8. One ticked format downloads as a single file. Several, or none, download together as a ZIP.

Can I export video descriptions and tags?

Yes. Tick Description, Tags, Likes, Comments, or the hashtags, emails and links found in descriptions, and they're looked up for every video before you download. Deleted and private videos have none.

Do M3U and M3U8 files download the videos?

No. They hold YouTube links in playlist order, not video or audio files, so a player like VLC streams each video from YouTube.

How do I get a playlist into Google Sheets?

Press Copy for Sheets, open a sheet, click cell A1 and paste. Each column lands in its own cell. You can also upload the .xlsx or .csv file to Google Drive and open it with Sheets.

How do I import a playlist into Notion?

Press Copy table and paste it into a Notion page to get a table, or Copy checklist for a to-do list you can tick off. For a Notion database, download the CSV and use Notion's Import, then choose CSV.

Can I export only part of a playlist?

Yes. Set the From and To video numbers and only that range is exported. You can also leave out deleted and private videos.

Does it work with very long playlists?

Yes. Playlists with thousands of videos are read in full, page by page, before the export is built.

Can I export my Watch Later or Liked videos?

No. Watch Later and Liked videos are private to your account and the tools never sign in to YouTube. Copy the videos into a public or unlisted playlist first, then export that.
